Why are we so confident?
Finishing a marathon has always been considered a tremendous
athletic feat, and many experienced marathoners will tell you that there
are two halves in a marathon - the first 20 miles and the last 10
kilometers. One reason for this is that your glycogen stores (your
primary source of energy) can only hold about 2,000 calories and the
average person burns approximately 100 calories per mile. Do the math
and you'll see that your glycogen stores can only provide enough energy
to take you approximately 20 miles. Fat can also be used for energy, but
fat is a very inefficient fuel - you won't be setting any speed records
relying on fat alone!
Fortunately there is a third source of energy - blood sugar. The beauty
of energy gels is that (when taken properly) they are rapidly absorbed
in your small intestine, thus providing energy in the form of blood

on-line to allow us to confirm that you have the product. Thereafter, we
have no way of verifying whether or not you actually train or race with the product,
but we trust you'll be honest with us. There's no paperwork to
complete, no proof of purchases to submit - instead we prefer that
you concentrate on your training. After your race, just return to cranksports.com and
let us know your marathon time, if it's not a PR we'll send out your
free e-Gel to help you start training for the next one. Enrollment in
the Marathon PR Guarantee program is limited to one time only per
person.
Obviously there are many things that can go wrong on race day that have
nothing to do with your race nutrition. Not a problem. We will honor the
guarantee regardless of the reason for not setting a PR.
Likewise, as you age it is difficult to equal the performances of your
youth, but then again you probably didn't know as much about running and
nutrition as you do now. So even if you set your PR 40 years ago, we
